EGS-Sorcery V1.0
(c)1994 Brian C. Wright
All Rights Reserved.
Read the file 'Copyright.readme'.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This software is not free. It is shareware. If you like and use these
images for more than 30 days, please send $10.00 US to the address below.
No foreign checks and only US currency.
If you register, you will receive a disk which contains the latest release
of the icons. I will also take any personal requests that you would like
(up to 5 images). Additional images past 5 will cost $1.00 an image.
Please specify DD or HD floppies. HD floppies will have the entire
archive uncompressed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is my archive of 24 bit icons. These icons were created to fill the
void of 24 bit images out there for the EGSDock and to take the place of
the nasty looking 4 color images. These images are in IFF 24 bit format
for you to use with the EGSDock or any other program which may take
advantage of 24 bit IFF images. As stated above, you may not distribute
any of the images if converted to another image format.
These images were created using SpectraPaint 1.2 for EGS and the EGS
Spectrum 28/24 from GVP.
Regardless of whether or not you choose to register, please send me a line
and tell me what you think of them.
Instructions:
Click the installer icon which will begin by asking you questions about
installation options. If you want to begin using EGS-Sorcery right away
with minimum hassles, select the 'Install everything' option. It will
install everything into the correct directory for the working config files.
After the installation is complete, you will see another Installation icon
in the EGS-Sorcery directory. This icon will let you easily switch between
any of the several config files provided with this installation. Once you
have EGS-Sorcery installed, the EGS-Sorcery-Install directory is no longer
needed and may be deleted.
********NOTE*************NOTE*************NOTE*************NOTE************
Please note that after the first installation of an EGSDock.config file,
you will have an 'EGSDock.config.bak' file in your EGS:s directory. You
will need to move this file before you attempt to install a second
configuration file if you wish to save your old config file. Changing the
config file for a second time will overwrite this file.
********NOTE*************NOTE*************NOTE*************NOTE************
Directory Structure:
In the EGS-Sorcery/s directory, you will find several EGSDock Config
files which you can rename and put into the EGS:s/ directory as
EGSDock.config. The trailing '-' part of the filename specifies the
style of the dock. I'm in the process of working on an installer
script to make this a whole lot easier. However, I do not have a
license to distribute Installer. I might end up writing my own
installation script.
There are currently 4 directories of images:
EGS-Sorcery/Integrated
EGS-Sorcery/Non-Integrated
EGS-Sorcery/Prefs
EGS-Sorcery/Apps
These three directories hold various types of images which you can assign to
whichever programs you choose. The Integrated directory holds images which
have a common background image thread. There are currently 2 threads. If
this becomes popular, I will produce more threads. Currently there is the A
thread and the S thread. You'll have to look at the images to see the
difference. :)
The Non-Integrated directory holds images which do not necessarily have any
relation to one another. Since EGS allows a 24 bit depth screen, there
is no need for a common color scheme or thread between the images. Hence
the Non-Integrated directory.
The Prefs directory holds icons which related to the EGS preferences.
These images come in 7 color schemes, Green, BlueGreen, Blue, Purple, Red,
Orange and Yellow. You can set these up however you like. In a rainbow,
haphazardly or in any color order you like. The sample configs contain
a solid color scheme of red and blue. There is also a rainbow sample
config.
The final directory, Apps, is reserved for future application icons. It only
holds one icon now, but I wanted to make sure there was room for expansion for
non-EGS included apps. For example, the long awaited ImageFX EGS. ;)
If this package becomes popular enough, I plan a lot more for the next
release including a few new Color schemes for the EGS Color Pref. A few
backdrops for Hook picture and, of course, more icons. ;) If you experience
any problems in the installation script or in any of the configuration
files, please let me know. Thanks.
Enjoy!

Many thanks go out to everyone I've met on the net. Thanks go out to
Darren Eveland (Hammerd on IRC) for giving me ideas on what to create
next and helping me beta test the installation scripts and configuration
files. Also, /me waves to all my friends on IRC. :)
